Pleached Trees

Pleached trees are trees which have been shaped and pruned normally on a framework to create a screen used for both ornamental and screening purposes.

Screening
If you require privacy, wish to block unsightly views then pleached trees can be ideal. One of our biggest problems today in town gardens and even in the country is being overlooked by our neighbours and a lack of privacy. Pleached trees can offer the perfect solution without taking up too much valuable space.

Ornamental
Pleached trees can be used in both classic and contemporary design. Small and large gardens can benefit from the shade and clean cut lines that can be achieved with pleached trees. Architecture can be enhanced and softened using their rectangular shape.

Supply
We source trees from all over Europe making sure we get the best quality at the best prices. Having discussed your specific requirements we can give you a detailed quotation.  This will usually contain a number of suitable options giving the information you have supplied ourselves. This will normally have some visual examples. We appreciate that for many clients purchasing large trees is not a familiar process and for large enough orders we can negotiate a site assessment visit.

After care / pleached trees.
It is important to secure your trees after planting stacking is a must in exposed areas. If you have newly pleached (first year pleached) then plant and leave them over the summer, this will give them time to settle.

Watering:
Ensure the trees receive sufficient water for the first season the use of some field drain when planting to ensure water gets to the base of the rootball is advisable

Feeding
If planting in the dormant season then a base scattering of bone meal will help establish root.  A good quality balanced fertiliser can also assist the development of the trees during the growing season.

Clipping:
Once established, it is advisable to trim the branches of the trees in mid to late May and then again in late August this will help thicken the trees.

Eventually, the tree will form a total block and when you get to this stage you can then just trim like you would a hedge (shears or mechanical). Once the trees are very established you should be able to remove the framework
